This position would be helping maintain the national OA website under the OA National Communications Subcommittee as part of the OA Web Team. Prior experience in HTML, CSS, PHP, Javascript, WordPress, and/or Drupal are ideal, but not required.
The main goal of this website is to communicate official, approved information to all Arrowmen and potential Arrowmen.
In 2018 the national web team launched a project to redesign the OA website and create a single source of truth and destination for all national programs. As part of this, new functionality was built for subcommittees that previously had their own separate websites such as training, history, and high adventure. The OA website continues to grow and improve and launch additional projects, such as this volunteer board.
The National OA Web Team includes Arrowmen from around the nation. Each member works a few hours a week on various functionality of the website. Team members have specific or general responsibilities depending on their position and their own personal skills and experience. Team members without development experience are able to work with other Arrowmen to learn or improve their skills.
About the OA Volunteer Board
As a nonprofit organization that prioritizes youth leadership, the Order of the Arrow relies on a dedicated team of both youth and adult volunteers to ensure the successful operation of its programs. The national volunteer opportunities within this board are intended for individuals who have already given substantial time at the lodge, section, and region level, and still seek to volunteer further in the OA. For more information on the OA’s structure please see this page.
