At the 2023 National Planning Meeting, the 2024 national officers were elected! Read on to learn more about the next leaders of the Order of the Arrow. These four inspirational youths are the top leaders of the Order of the Arrow and represent the over one million members of the Boy Scouts of America, in addition to leading planning for the 2024 National Order of the Arrow Conference.
2024 National Chief David Gosik (he/him)
David is from Tidewater Council and Blue Heron Lodge in Virginia. Before becoming the national chief, David was a lodge chief, chapter chief, conclave vice chief, section vice chief, and section chief for Section E9. He is an Eagle Scout, Vigil Honor member, and recipient of the Founder’s Award and James E. West Award. David attended the National Order of the Arrow Conference in 2018 and 2022, the National Leadership Seminar, and was a part of Operation Arrow in 2023. He currently attends the University of Virginia, studying history. David’s favorite pastimes include working on his car, spending time with friends, and trying new restaurants.
As national chief, David is optimistic about the new year:
“2024 will support personal connections between Arrowmen. With a National Order of the Arrow Conference, eleven NLS courses, including Japan and Puerto Rico, and 43 section conclaves, the Order of the Arrow will be a forum in which lifelong friendships are created.”
2024 National Vice Chief John Andrew Segebarth (he/him)
John Andrew is a member of the Blue Grass Council and Kawida Lodge in Kentucky. Before being elected national vice chief, John Andrew served as a chapter chief, lodge vice chief, section secretary, and section chief for Section E3. He has earned both the Eagle and Summit Rank, is a Vigil Honor member, and is a recipient of the Founder’s Award. Thus far, John Andrew has attended OA Summit Experience, OA Ocean Adventure, NOAC 2022, and a total of seven National Leadership Seminars. He studies political science, economics, and public policy at the University of Kentucky. In his free time, John Andrew plays the trombone, creates Pinterest boards, and plays tennis.
As John Andrew embarks on this new leadership journey, he has a positive outlook for 2024:
“I believe that we have an amazing team of officers and Conference Vice Chiefs this year that are well prepared to design this NOAC as the launching point for the next era of our organization.”
2024 Eastern Region Chief Cameron Dalton (he/him)
Cameron is from Pine Tree Council and Madockawanda Lodge in Maine. Before being elected as the Eastern Region chief, Cameron served as lodge treasurer, lodge chief, section vice chief, and section chief for Section E19. He is an Eagle Scout, Vigil Honor member, and recipient of the Founder’s Award. So far in Scouting, Cameron has attended NOAC in 2022 and the National Jamboree in 2023. Cameron is studying mechanical engineering at the University of Maine with hopes of entering the aerospace field. Outside of Scouting, Cameron enjoys drawing, listening to podcasts, and playing sports.
When looking towards the new year, Cameron has big aspirations as a national officer:
“I’m so honored to serve as a region chief. I want to make the Eastern Region a home for our Arrowmen this year, supporting them in creating positive change.”
2024 Gateway Region Chief Jake Whitley (he/him)
Jake is from the Sam Houston Area Council and Colonneh Lodge in Texas. Before being elected Gateway Region Chief, Jake served as lodge vice chief, lodge chief, section vice chief, and section chief for Section G2. He is an Eagle Scout, Vigil Honor member, and recipient of the Founder’s Award and James E. West Award. As a Scout, he has attended the National Jamboree in 2017 and 2023, NOAC in 2018 and 2022, and the World Jamboree in 2019. Jake is studying business administration at Lone Star College and plans to pursue an MBA. His hobbies include reading, traveling, and playing pickleball.
As the Gateway Region Chief, Jake shares his enthusiasm for what the new year has in store:
“I’m really excited to share the message of the OA with Scouts across the country. This year will be an amazing opportunity to better the OA and Scouting.”
